Biografie

Swedish pop band Gyllene Tider formed in 1977 in Halmstad, Sweden. The band is best known outside of Sweden for being the first band fronted by future Roxette songwriter, singer, and guitarist Per Gessle. However, Gyllene Tider were one of the best-selling bands in Scandinavia. Their hits include “Flickorna på TV2" (1980), "När vi två blir en" (1980), "Ljudet av ett annat hjärta” (1981), and “Sommartider”. The band’s original members – Per Gessle, Mats Persson, Micke Andersson, Anders Herrlin, and Göran Fritzon – were all members of previous Swedish bands but came together as Grape Rock before changing their name to Gyllene Tider. Their first three Swedish-language albums – Gyllene Tider (1980), Moderna Tider (1981), and Puls (1982) – all reached Number 1 on the Swedish Album chart and entered the Top 30 in Norway. The band’s fourth album, The Heartland Café (1984), was their first album in English. The following year, the band split up and Per Gessle pursued a solo career before forming Roxette in 1986 with Marie Fredriksson. While Gessle was busy with Roxette, various Gyllene Tider compilations and live albums were released to celebrate the group’s history. The band occasionally reunited for live shows but didn’t release any new music until 2004’s Finn 5 fel! The album went to Number 1 on the charts and was the best-selling album in Sweden in 2004. The band toured to promote the release and celebrate their 25th Anniversary, eventually issuing the live document GT25 Live! The band returned in 2013 with the studio album Dags att tänka på refrängen, their fifth Number 1 album. Their seventh studio album, Samma skrot och korn, was released in 2019.
