Joelma Marques is a singer, philosopher and composer
Joelma Marques was born in Ceará, Brazil and is now based in Germany. Her new EP De Nós Dois (Only on Streaming), produced by Alexandre Caldi counts with the participation of Guido Imaguire, Marcelo Caldi, Itamar Assiere and Nando Duarte. She presents new compositions and re-recorded two classics of Brazilian samba, Com Que Roupa de Noel Rosa and "Jura" de Sinhô.
Before that, she released two albums: Passos (2016) and Tertúlia do Catolé (2018). The songs on these albums are intertwined with her philosophy textbooks. Joelma attended Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy in Brazil and received her PhD in Germany. In her artistic projects she united philosophy, music and literature.
The first CD Passos, produced by Carlinhos Crisóstomo, adresses themes dealt with in her book "The Debutante Princess: Virtue, Love and Happiness" published in 2017 by Apolodoro Virtual Editions. Distinct situations are emphasized through different rhythms: samba, blues, ballad and bossa nova.
The second CD "Tertúlia do Catolé" portrays the drought in the sertão, the desire for a better world and describes the beauty of simple life in the sertão. These songs are connected in her book "Ara: Philosophical Discussions in the Sertão" published in 2018 by Appris publishing house. Tertúlia do Catolé includes very regional rhythms and counts with the participation of Adelson Viana, Descartes Gadelha, Marcelo Leite, Nonato Cordeiro, Tito Freitas and Tarcísio Lima.
