Giovanni Bella, otherwise known as Italian pop-rock composer and singer-songwriter Gianni Bella, was born in Catania, southern Italy on March 14, 1947. He set the musical wheels in motion during the seventies by composing for his singer sister, Marcella Bella, and launched his own singing career in 1974 with the well-received single "Più Ci Penso". Bella achieved a Number 1 hit in Italy with 1976’s “Non Si Può' Morire Dentro” and went on to release a string of singles, including 1978’s “No” and “Toc Toc”. He began a collaborative relationship with lyricist Giancarlo Bigazzi in the seventies, but this ended in 1983 when Bella joined forces with Giulio Rapetti, better known as Mogol. The duo released albums G.B.1 - Nuova Gente (1983), 1986's Una Luce and 1988's Due Cuori Rossi Di Vergogna. In 2007, Bella teamed up with his sister again for the Forever Per Sempre album, but he suffered a stroke in 2010 and was subsequently unable to work as a composer.
