Gerardo Lares (October 17th 1990) is a Mexican singer with a passion for music from a young age. He began his career in regional Mexican music, focusing on Norteño Banda and Corridos subgenres.
After standing out in 2011 in the band Imperial del Bajío Guanajuatense, he decided to go solo in 2014 and released his first album, "Abrázame, no tengas miedo," which combines all three subgenres. In 2019, Gerardo explored a new direction and fell in love with Bachata while in the Dominican Republic. He created a new style called "Bachata Azteca," which blends Bachata with Mexican music, resulting in a unique and exciting sound, clearly making a name for himself.
In March 2021, she released her album "Bachata Azteca", for both the local and international market, composed of ten songs produced by Miguel "El Chico" Veras. His powerful voice and emotional delivery bring each song to life, capturing the spirit and essence of Dominican and Mexican music, achieving a massive success in the Dominican Republic, Colombia, the United States and Europe.
His first single from the album, "Fue tan fácil," reached the top 40 in the Dominican Republic, the top 20 of tropical music of Music Choice, and the top 65 in Latinos Unidos Online in the United States. His second single, "Mi segunda vida," reached the top 10 of Monitor Latino and the top 20 of the Billboard tropical chart. Gerardo's promotional song "Quédate con él" won him the Best Bachata Artist award at the Nucleo Urbano Awards in Colombia, receiving great support and broadcasting on networks such as Música Choice, Claro Música, HTV, and Audiomack.
In June 2021, he released the music video for his single "Perdón y olvido," which reached the top 10 in Monitor Latino in the first week of its release.
His journey from Mexican subgenres to Bachata Azteca is a testament to his versatility and creativity as an artist. He has proven that music has no boundaries and that blending different cultures can lead to beautiful and exciting new sounds, making him a must-listen for anyone who loves Dominican and Mexican music.
Gerardo continues to explore bachata in a new phase, but from a more authentic perspective, working with prominent Dominican bachateros. As a result, in February 2023, he released "El Alumno", his new single in collaboration with Elvis Martinez, recognized as El Jefe de la Bachata.
