Biografie

Weaving trip-hop, shoegaze, dream-pop and ambient textures into their widescreen, cinematic electronica, Denmark's Blue Foundation formed in 2000 and have found the perfect partner in film soundtracks during their 20-year career. The Danish duo – comprising composer, multi-instrumentalist and lead singer Tobias Wilner and producer and multi-instrumentalist Bo Rande – released their first 7" single, "Hollywood & Hide," on respected UK label Moshi Moshi Records in 2000 and their debut self-titled album arrived the following year; a beat-rich trip-hop landscape with bewitching vocals and jazz-inflected brushstrokes. Taking their cue from the Fall, Blue Foundation employed a revolving lineup of musicians across their albums. For their second LP, 2004's Sweep of Days, the pair brought in Scott Martingell a.k.a. MC Jabber and turntablist Tatsuki Oshima, among other musicians. Blue Foundation's third album2007's Life of a Ghost, yielded the group commercial success in the form of the sultry, guitar-streaked "Eyes on Fire," which made it to Number 49 on the Billboard Heatseekers Songs chart and was also featured on the 2008 soundtrack to hit vampire fantasy film, Twilight. The duo notched up another four albums, including a remix LP of 2012's In My Mind I Am Free, and 2019 beat-tape-esque Silent Dream. Blue Foundation's music has over the years made an appearance on everything from 2006 action thriller Miami Vice to US teen drama series The O.C., and even turned up in an episode of US reality TV series So You Think You Can Dance.
