Alberto Iglesias is one of the most celebrated film composers in Spain with eleven Goya Awards, the nation's top film prize, and he works steadily on Hollywood and international movies with three Academy Award nominations for 'The Constant Gardener' (2005), 'The Kit Runner' (2007) and 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' (2011). He has scored several films for Spanish director Pedro Almodovar including prizewinners 'All About My Mother', 'Talk to Her', 'Volver', 'Broken Embraces' and 'The Skin I Live In', and for fellow countryman Julio Médem including award-winners 'The Red Squirrel', 'Earth', 'Lovers of the Arctic Circle', 'Sex and Lucia' and 'Ma Ma'.

Born in San Sebastián on the northern coast of Spain, he studied music locally and in Paris and in the early 1980s toured with composer Javier Navarette playing electronic music. He provided the music for some short films until 1984 when he made his feature debut on Alfonso Ungría's historical drama 'La Conquista de Albania'. More work followed until his big break when Médem hired him to score his 1992 mystery 'Vacas' and kept him on for four more productions. He wrote the music for Almodovar's 'The Flower of My Secret' in 1995 and their other films together include 'Live Flesh' (1997), 'I'm So Excited' (2013) and 'Julieta' (2016).

Iglesias also composes for the concert hall including the works 'Cautiva' (1992), 'Tabulae' (1994), 'Cero Sobre Cero' (1995) and 'Self' (1997) and he has written the scores for choreographer Nacho Duato and his National Dance Company. His 2017 film work included Santiago Mitre's thriller 'The Summit' with Carlos Vermut's 'Quién te Cantará' and Asghar Farhadi's 'Everybody Knows', starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, released in 2018.
