Taja Sevelle, born Nancy Richardson on January 7, 1962, in Minnesota, is an American pop singer. She began her music career with a recording contract signed with Prince's Paisley Park Records in 1987. Her debut album, Taja Sevelle, was produced by Minneapolis musician Chico Bennett and released that same year. The album featured two songs co-written by Prince: "Wouldn't You Love to Love Me?" and "If I Could Get Your Attention". Although the album did not chart in the US, it reached Number 48 in the UK and Number 52 in the Netherlands. Sevelle's breakthrough single, "Love Is Contagious", was released from this debut album. In 1985, she contributed backing vocals to Prince and The Revolution’s Around the World in a Day, singing on the track "The Ladder". During the 1990s, Taja Sevelle wrote several songs for Warner Music. She went on to release two more studio albums: Fountains Free (1991) and Toys of Vanity (1997).
