Biography

An Americana group from London, England, The Wandering Hearts formed in 2015, quickly established a modern sound rooted in alt-country, indie-folk, and harmony-driven pop. Featuring the combined talents of vocalist Tara Wilcox, vocalist/guitarist Will Prottey-Jones, vocalist/mandolin player Chess Whiffin, and vocalist/guitarist AJ Dean, the group independently released a pair of songs on social media in 2016 under the name "The Paper Hearts." Those early recordings helped earn the band a deal with Decca Records, and the label released the debut single "Wish I Could" — credited to the band's newly revised name, The Wandering Hearts — as well as the full-length album Wild Silence in 2017. While performing in Nashville during an international tour in support of both releases, The Wandering Hearts became the first British act in history to debut at both the historic Ryman Auditorium and the legendary Grand Ole Opry during the same week. Back home, the group also won the "Bob Harris Emerging Artist" award at the UK Americana Awards in 2018. Prottey-Jones left the group's lineup as the album cycle for Wild Science wound to a close, and The Wandering Hearts soldiered ahead as a slimmed-down trio with the group's next album, the self-titled The Wandering Hearts, which debuted at Number 48 on the UK charts during the summer of 2021.
