Moving into 2022, London-based Stella Talpo's forthcoming EP, ‘FINE’, sees the artist step into a new energy, a reclaimed self and with it, a reinvented sound. The new project captures a power and self-belief we’ve yet to see from the singer and is sure to be a turning point in her winding and unusual story.
Born in a small town outside Milan, and raised in Singapore, Stella Talpo has wanderlust woven into her bones. Influenced by a wide range of artists from Billie Holiday to Nirvana, it wasn’t until Stella moved to the UK to pursue a career in music, that she deciphered her own lyrical and musical voice.
In 2016, Stella released her debut EP ‘SPACE’ and has since been performing across London and various festivals in the UK. The singer has released multiple singles, including ‘GIRL’, which garnered support from Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1), Spotify & more and collaborated with artists including Subculture, KINDER and Yaffle.
Known for her cross-genre sound and poignant lyrics that address themes from addiction and human behaviour to politics, Stella’s vision is to write and perform music that connects with and moves people. Her second EP, ‘first burn’, gave us a look into the artist’s internal world and was, as she described, “the manifestation of unpacking and facing the emotional traumas from early life”.
‘FINE’ sees Stella team up with producer and keys-player Lewis Moody, who gave life to Stella’s vision of exposing a different side of herself through a new sonic lens. The aim of the project was to channel the empowered, gritty and fun energy that paralleled Stella’s desire to dynamise her music and live sets whilst staying true to the singer’s distinctive style.
