As the child of different cultures, British-Surinamese-Dutch R&B artist Sky Feliz naturally embraces a wide breadth of stylistics and disciplines. The multidimensional vocalist, songwriter and performer is alluring yet confrontational in her songs. “I like to make people uncomfortable to an extent while seductively luring them in with warm vocals”.
Her sultry vocals and riffs, extensive background in music production, acting and dance let her songs live in that threadbare zone between substance and secrecy, alluding to intimate situations in which the physical and intellectual overlap, stalemate or rupture.
In 2023, Sky will take her career to the next level this year with a brand new recording project. “Patience” – which was co-produced by Jaap Wiewel and Robin Veldman – marks the first taste of this upcoming musical chapter.
The music video explores this dynamic between power and sensuality even further. “I wanted to maintain a certain simplicity from which to draw my power, both in the performance and in the designer pieces I'm wearing. There’s very little around that. I had to let go of the noise I had in the past to come to terms with myself.”
