It's hard to make a name for yourself when your name is Hallyday and you want to follow in the footsteps of your parents. Born in Boulogne-Billancourt on August 14, 1966, one year after Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan's high-profile wedding, David Hallyday (David Smet in civil law) is a child of the ball. Putting ambition to one side, the multi-instrumentalist and composer pursued his own path in English-language and then French-language rock, building up a following that was not necessarily that of his illustrious progenitor. From Gérard Manset to Jean-Patrick Capdevielle and Pierre-Dominique Burgaud, he collected both songwriters and successes over the course of a career rich in various activities, including motor racing. After the FM rock of his early days, marked by the hit single "High " (1988), which stayed at #1 for five weeks, other albums followed without achieving the same impact. 2010 saw the release of his tenth album, Un Nouveau Monde, featuring the track "On se fait peur", sung as a duet with his half-sister, actress Laura Smet. 2014 sees him record as a group under the name Mission Control. The singer returned under his illustrious moniker in 2016 for the album Le Temps d'Une Vie. In 2018, a year after the death of his father, he bears witness to this absence in J'ai Quelque Chose à Vous Dire.
