Biography

The Wood Brothers are an American band with a strong background in roots music who are lauded for their harmonic mix of blues, folk, jazz, country and rock. Brothers Oliver and Chris Wood, who were born in Colorado, already had successful careers as musicians individually and with other bands when they teamed up as The Wood Brothers in 2006. Oliver had played guitar and sung R&B, country and folk with the group King Johnson while Chris played the double bass in the contemporary jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood with keyboard player John Medeski and drummer Billy Martin.

They followed their 2006 debut album, 'Ways Not to Lose', with a live recording, 'The Wood Brothers at Newport' in the same year and two more studio albums, 'Loaded' (2008) and 'Smoke Rings Halo' (2011). They produced two concert albums in 2012, 'Live Vol. 1: Sky High', which made it onto Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums Chart at number 73, and 'Live Vol. 2: Nail and Tooth' after which they relocated to Nashville where they were joined by multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, who was a member of the Gabe Dixon rock band.

Their 2013 release 'The Muse' proved to be their breakthrough album landing on several charts including Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums where it reached number ten, and the Top Country Albums where it peaked at number 22. 2015's 'Paradise' went to number six on the Americana/Folk Chart and number 12 on the Country Chart. Their sixth studio album, 'One Drop of Truth', was scheduled for release in 2018, and they were to embark on a nationwide tour of the United States from January to June.
