Electric Boys was formed in Sweden in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Conny Bloom and bassist Andy Christell, both hailing from Stockholm. The duo secured a contract with Polygram and issued the single "All Lips 'n Hips" in 1987, which later appeared on the soundtrack to the film Feds and gained heavy rotation on MTV. In 1989 the band released their debut studio album Funk‑O‑Metal Carpet Ride, recorded in Sweden and later in the United States with producer Bob Rock; the album spawned the Billboard Top 20 single "All Lips ’N’ Hips" and established a following in Britain where the group supported Thunder. The follow‑up album Groovus Maximus arrived in 1992, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, but the band split in 1994 after a final tour supporting Mr. Big. Conny Bloom and Andy Christell later joined Hanoi Rocks in 2005. The original lineup reunited in 2009 and released And Them Boys Done Swang in 2011, followed by Starflight United (2014), The Ghost Ward Diaries (2018), Ups!de Down (2021) and Grand Explosivos (2023). Throughout their career the group toured with Metallica, supported Thunder and Mr. Big, and maintained a presence in the Swedish rock scene, with singles such as "Mary in the Mystery World" charting in Sweden and the UK.
