Behind the artist name My Beautiful Decay 1973 is the Danish composer, multi instrumentalist and producer Carsten Bo Eriksen. His work embodies both the rigour of the Classical tradition and the experimentalism of contemporary electronic music. He blurs the line between genres, blending classical, electronic and ambient music. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark and educated as a composer with highest honors from the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark with prof Ib Nørholm, Ivar Froundberg and Hans Abrahamsen. He also works as a visual artist with e.g. video, drawing and painting. In 2003 he was granted with a 3 year working grant from the Danish Arts Foundation and the same year winning 1st prize for best electronic music. In 2001 he was nominated for a Danish Music Award with his ensemble Nordlys. He’s been working with American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) since 2015 on various recordings and commissions and with among others Nordic String Quartet, Jack Quartet, cellist Clarice Jensen and cellist Josefine Opsahl, Copenhagen Philharmonics, He's been performed e.g. at Le Poisson Rouge, DiMenna Center and Scandinavian House in New York City, USA or e.g. The National Gallery Of Denmark, SPOT Festival, Louisiana Modern Museum of Art, Danish National Radio, Vega, Tivoli Concerthall in Denmark among others.
