With his caramel-smooth voice, Raghav Mathur (born on April 2, 1981 in Toronto, Canada) a.k.a. charismatic contemporary R&B trailblazer Raghav infuses his rich romantic jams with both reggae and the Indian music of his childhood. Released in 2004, Raghav's debut album Storyteller – which reached Number 36 in the UK – shifted the goalposts for South Asian artists, spawning three Top 10 UK hits in "So Confused," "Can't Get Enough" and "Angel Eyes." For 2009's sophomore effort, Identity, Raghav enlisted US hip-hop mainstay Redman on opening track "My Kinda Girl," while UK rapper Iceberg Slimm stepped up for "Once." The album also featured Hindi track "Humrahee." Raghav's third LP The Phoenix arrived in 2012 and saw the star embrace a glossier pop and electro-edged sound. A number of singles followed in the album's wake, including 2015's bilingual English and Hindi language track "Until the Sun Comes Up" – which  featured Indian megastar Abhishek Bachchan and US artist Nelly – and 2018's "Maayera." Raghav is the recipient of various awards and nominations, including a 2004 MOBO Award for Best Collaboration. He also won the Best Newcomer prize at the UK's Asian Music Awards in 2005. Alongside his pop endeavors, Raghav has enjoyed a successful career in film, working with Oscar and Grammy-winning producer A. R. Rahman on Bollywood soundtracks, including 2012's “Ishq Shava.”
