Noel McLoughlin

Noel McLoughlin is an Irish singer and guitarist born in 1955 in Limerick. He began performing at age 15 and was influenced by the ensembles The Johnstons and Planxty. During the 1970s, he was a member of the groups Cromlach and Celtic Tradition. McLoughlin toured Europe and the United States as a solo performer of Irish folk songs and ballads and appeared on Irish television programs. In 1984, he collaborated with Celtic Tradition on the recording I Have Waited Many a Night and Day. His solo discography began in 1988 and included the studio recordings 20 Best of Ireland and 20 Best of Scotland. In 2001, he received a Gold Record for 20 Best of Ireland. McLoughlin also released the albums Christmas & Winter Songs from Ireland and Festival of Irish Musik. His repertoire focused on traditional Irish and Scottish folklore.
