"She has been nominated for two Zone Music Reporter awards, including 'Best New Artist'. One listen to 'Moon and Shadows' and it's easy to see why. She's a stellar talent already and I hope to hear much more from her down the road." - Bill Binkelman, Zone Music Reporter.
Barbara Hills is a British independent composer/producer who ives and works in Montgomeryshire, Wales UK. Her instrumental music is very 'visual'; her pieces are often described as twenty-first century tone poems. She is always describing something 'other' whether it be a landscape, seascape or spacescape (as in Moon and Shadows) or a flower with its attendand associations as in 'The Flowers Suite'. She takes much of her inspiration from the natural world around her. Barbara's music incorporates acoustic performance, electronic sound and recordings from nature.
Barbara is known for her interdisciplinary creative work, weaving together her vision with sound, images and words. Her music has twice been the Sound Installation at the International Art Exhibition in the Art Sanctuary (Jodoigne, Belgium). She also composes soundtracks for animation and audiobooks. In 2019 her album 'The Flowers Suite' was nominated for a ZMR Award (New Orleans) in the category of 'Best Neo-Classical Album.' In 2016 her double album 'Moon and Shadows' was nominated for two ZMR Awards: 'Best New Artist' and 'Best Electronic Album'.
