Coeur de Pirate  - born Béatrice Martin on September 22, 1989, in Outremont, Quebec, Canada -  is singer-songwriter who has been acclaimed for her return to the classic chanson Française style. She learned to play the piano as a child and studied at Montreal's Conservatoire de Musique du Québec. When her song “Ensemble” was used on a video about a child playing with toys, it attracted wide attention on the Internet. She has written music for Canadian television and for video games and collaborated with artists such as Bedouin Soundclash, Julien Doré, Peter Peter, Simple Plan, and Against Me. Her 2009 eponymous debut album went to Number 6 on Billboard's World Albums chart, which helped earn her a Félix Award for Debut Artist of the Year.  Coeur de Pirate’s second album Blonde (2011) also reached the Number 6 position on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Further albums include Trauma (2014), Child of Light (2014), and Roses (2015). Her 2016 single “Carry On” – taken from the album Roses - reached Number 10 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs Chart. In 2016, she released Les Souliers Rouges, a collaboration with Fabrice Aboulker and Marc Lavoine. Coeur de Pirate followed that album with En Cas de Tempête, Ce Jardin Sera Fermé (2018), another Number 6 entry on the World Albums chart. In 2021, she issued two albums: the instrumental Perséides and the vocal Impossible à Aimer.
