Sweden's finest (excepting ABBA of course) became worldwide stars in the late 1980s and early 1990s dominating the charts, airwaves and notching up album sales of over 45 million with their brand of infectiously catchy pop rock. Formed after the demise of Per Gessle's group Gyllene Tider, it was second album Look Sharp! (1988) that proved their breakthrough reaching Number 2 in the UK, and producing the US Number 1 singles The Look and Listen To Your Heart. The use of It Must Have Been Love as the soundtrack to the hugely popular movie Pretty Woman gave the duo another US chart-topper before Joyride - from the album of the same name again - repeated the trick. As their international popularity dwindled with the release of Crash! Boom! Bang! (1994), Have A Nice Day (1999) and Room Service (2000) they were forced to split in 2002 when Marie was diagnosed with a brain tumour. In 2009 they reformed for gigs across Scandinavia, belting out a collection of their smooth rocking power pop hits.Artist biography compiled by BDS/West 10. All rights reserved
