Sheena Mary McDonald, known professionally as Horse McDonald, was born on November 22, 1958, in Newport-on-Tay, Fife, Scotland. She is a singer-songwriter who began her career with tours alongside notable artists such as Tina Turner and B.B. King during the 1980s.
She released her debut album The Same Sky in 1990 under Capitol Records, marking the start of her solo career. Her subsequent albums include God's Home Movie (1993), which peaked at UK Number 42, and Both Sides (2000) with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Throughout the 2000s, she continued to release albums such as Hindsight… It’s A Wonderful Thing (2001), Only All of Me (2003), Coveted (2004), and Red Haired Girl (2007). Her notable singles include "God's Home Movie" (1993) and "Shake This Mountain" (1993). In 2013, she celebrated the twentieth anniversary of God's Home Movie with a one-off show at the Barrowland in Glasgow. She has been recognised for her contributions to music and LGBTQ+ advocacy, including her appearance on the charity single "It Does Get Better" in 2012 and her induction into the Saltire Society Outstanding Women of Scotland in 2017.
