The Polish-German singer Mark Forster was born Marek Cwiertnia in Winnweiler, Germany on January 11, 1983. After moving to Berlin, Forster began his musical career as a jingle writer for television including working on the popular German TV show Krömer - Die Internationale Show where he worked as a pianist and sidekick for the show's host, comedian Kurt Krömer. In 2006 Forster joined the band Balboa as a frontman prior to signing a solo deal with the German label Four Music. Forster released his first solo album Kartons in 2012 and in 2014 had his first major chart breakthrough when he collaborated with Paul Würdig, the German rapper better known as Sido. Würdig and Forster recorded the single “Au Revoir” which became a European hit reaching Number 2 in Germany and Austria. In 2015 Forster teamed up with the German DJ Felix Jaehn and formed the musical project Eff. Jaehn is a highly respected producer specializing in tropical house, a sub-genre of Balearic house. Forster is the lead singer of the duo and in 2015 their debut single Stimme topped the German charts for three consecutive weeks. 2016’s Tape would be a huge success, reaching Number 2 on the German album chart and spinning off four top 40 singles including the Number 2 hit “Chöre”. 2018’s Liebe returned him to the top 5 on the strength of the Number 13 single “194 Länder”. He scored his fourth top 10 single in 2020 with “Übermorgen”, and returned to the Number 15 spot in 2021 with “Drei Uhr Nachts”.
