Intro, an American R&B trio from Brooklyn and Queens, New York City, was formed in 1990 by Jeff Sanders, Clinton "Buddy" Wike, and lead singer/songwriter Kenny Greene. The group's name is an acronym for Innovative New Talent Reaching Out. Discovered by DJ Eddie F, Intro signed with Untouchables Entertainment and struck a deal with Atlantic Records in 1992. Their debut album, Intro, was released in March 1993, featuring the singles "Love Thang" and "Let Me Be the One." The trio's second album, New Life, followed in October 1995, including hits like "Ribbon in the Sky", a cover of Stevie Wonder's song, and their highest-charting single, "Come Inside." Intro also contributed to Eddie F and the Untouchables' collaboration album Let's Get It On, with the single "Never Again." The group went on hiatus in 1997. Greene, who had already penned early hits for Mary J. Blige, continued writing for other artists such as Will Smith, Cam'ron, 98 Degrees, Changing Faces, and Tyrese. He died in 2001 from complications related to AIDS. In recent years, Intro has reformed as a duo and continues to tour worldwide. In January 2025, it was announced that singer Tao Soprano, formerly of fellow 1990s R&B group Dru Hill, would be joining the group as their new lead singer.
