Jon B is an American singer, songwriter and producer known for his collaborations with the likes of Babyface and 2Pac.
Born Jonathan David Buck in Providence, Rhode Island on November 11th 1974, Jon B grew up in Altadena, California, with his music professor father, a mother who worked as a concert pianist and a brother and sister who grew up to become a cellist and violinist, respectively.
After graduating high school Jon B quickly got to writing and recording music, laying down some 40 tracks and shopping them around record labels. He caught the attention of Yab-Yum Records president and CEO Tracey Edmonds and found work as a songwriter for the likes of After 7, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, The Spice Girls, Color Me Badd and others.
In 1995 Jon B made his debut as an artist in his own right, releasing the debut album 'Bonafide'. Its lead single was a duet with Babyface, 'Someone to Love', and went gold, helping 'Bonafide' reach number 24 on the Billboard R&B Album Chart.
The 1997 album 'Cool Relax', featuring the 2Pac collaboration 'Are U Still Down', came next and went platinum. 'Pleasures U Like' (2001), 'Stronger Everyday' (2004) and 'Helpless Romantic' (2008) followed and all performed well in the R&B charts.
