Biography

The day before 19-year-old
Luke Bryan, born July 17, 1976, was due to leave his rural Georgia home to seek
fame and fortune in Nashville, his brother Chris died in a car crash. Bryan
stayed home, working the family peanut farm and attending college for a few
years until his father ordered him to pursue his dreams. Arriving Nashville in
2001, he quickly earned a publishing deal and penned tracks for Travis Tritt
and Billy Currington before his debut album, 2007’s I'll Stay Me, reached Number two. His sister unexpectedly passed away just after his Grand Old Opry debut,
and the heartache spurred him on to greater success. Albums like 2009’s Doin'
My Thing
and 2011’s Tailgates & Tanlines became huge crossover
hits, while the singles “Rain Is a Good Thing”, “Someone Else Calling
You Baby”
, “I Don't Want This Night to End” and “Drunk on You”
were Number 1 country smashes. He cleaned up at the American Country Awards in
2012, winning nine trophies including Artist of the Year. 2013’s Crash My
Party
went to Number 1, confirming Bryan as a country superstar. 2015 saw
the release of his fifth album Kill the Lights spawn off a half-dozen
hit singles. In 2017 he released his sixth album, What Makes You Country,
his fourth consecutive Number 1 country album.
The single “Knockin’
Boots”
, came out in April of 2019 as the first single for what would be his
new album, but there was quite a wait as Born Here Live Here Die Here
did not come out until August of 2020, delayed months due to the COVID-19
pandemic.
