Carburetor Dung (aka DUNG) has been in and around the Malaysian underground scene since 1991. The band have an eclectic repertoire built around and inspired by global punk rock and its adjacents, including singer-songwriters and folk-rock.
"...sounds like you should be able to instantly compare it to this band or that, but that never seems 100% possible. Quite a feat, really, especially since Carburetor Dung deal in fast-paced hardcore with an 80s bent – a style that’s not exactly swimming in creativity and individuality much of the time. Here are some bands that spring to mind: Articles Of Faith. Crucifix. Husker Du. Stiff Little Fingers. Not exactly a similar-sounding lot there, right? Right, and yet Carburetor Dung somehow manage it and make it all their own with crisp, punchy guitars, snarling vocals and hurtling blasts of melody. " - Collective Zine UK, 2012.
"Hardcore punk that sounds more influenced by '77 punk than hardcore. The bits on this record that remind me of Black Flag equally remind me of Wire. For the most part, they honestly don't sound much like anybody else." - Razorcake, 2012
"The music here is solidly great upbeat punk that verges into and then pulls back and forth from hardcore intensity with great dexterity. Using the advantage of two guitarists to layer some great very ’80s early So-Cal punk style moments, where it’s undeniably aggressive but still retains threads of melody." - Maximum RocknRoll, 2012.
