Gino Soccio is a French-speaking Quebecer of Italian origin, born in September 1955 in Verdun, Canada. A pianist since the age of ten, he became a studio musician in the mid-1970s. Gino Soccio shot to fame in 1974 when his track "War Dance", composed for the Kebekletric project, became a hit on American dancefloors. From then on, this lover of licked funk devoted himself to disco, becoming a star of the genre in 1979 with the track " Dancer". In 1981, he was back at number one dance in the U.S. with "Try It Out". Gino Soccio also composed for other disco artists such as Karen Silver and the group Witch Queen. His most accomplished album is Closer (1981). Although still a disco reference, Gino Soccio did not survive the end of the disco movement artistically, disappearing from the scene after 1984.
