Darryl Pandy, born December 24 1962 in the United States, was a Chicago‑based singer and DJ whose roots lay in Broadway and opera. After performing with the choir of Chicago’s Church of Universal Awareness, he entered the emerging house scene, achieving international attention with "Love Can't Turn Around" in 1986, a track that reached Number 10 on the UK Singles Chart and helped popularise house music overseas. In 1998 he released the self‑titled album Darryl Pandy on Mirakkle Records. Darryl Pandy continued to perform in the United States and Europe, collaborating with notable producers such as Farley "Jackmaster" Funk. His career concluded with a series of benefit concerts after a prolonged illness, and he passed away on June 10 2011 at age 48. Darryl Pandy’s work remains a reference point for the early Chicago house movement.
