Winterfront is a pagan black metal band hailing from Trogir, Croatia, formed in late 2010 by Ivan Grga and Toni “Tertt” Jakus. From its inception, the band has focused on cold, atmospheric black metal steeped in themes of war, paganism, and inner struggle. Initially a studio-focused project, Winterfront began by crafting frostbitten riffs that reflect both their Dalmatian roots and their admiration for Eastern European black metal traditions. 2014 debut, Northwinds, was released to a niche yet dedicated audience in the underground scene.
After years of silence, Winterfront returned with the 2025 album XIII Chants for the Underworld, a matured, more powerful ritual that marks a new era for the band. XIII Chants for the Underworld in particular expands the band’s range with longer compositions, layered atmospheres, and a deeper lyrical focus.
Both albums were released through Werwolf Promotion.
