Part of a new generation of alt. country artists, Caitlin Rose comes steeped in a love of 1970s stars such as Gram Parsons, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, while bringing her own every day dramas and deadpan humour into her songwriting. Described as a "country Lily Allen", Rose grew up in Nashville playing in indie bands and performing at parties, before recording her own songs for a local record label. Signed up by major label BMI, her fresh take on classic country and wry lyrical observations helped earn critical praise for EP Dead Flowers (2008), while debut album Own Side Now (2010) was named by Time magazine as one of the ten best albums of the year. Rose had tracks used in ABC television show Nashville and progressed to a sultry, more mature sound on second album The Stand-In (2013), which earned 9/10 ratings in both Spin and Uncut magazines while The Guardian compared her to Tammy Wynette and Lucinda Williams.
