Yiannis Parios, born Ioannis Varthakouris on March 8, 1946, on the island of Paros, Greece, is a prominent Greek singer. He made his debut as a singer in 1969 with singles such as "Μια γυναίκα στη βροχή / Το τόπι" and "Νάτανε Το 21 / Στα Μάτια Σύννεφο". Parios' career spans over five decades, during which he has released numerous albums. His breakthrough came with the album Γιάννης Πάριος in 1971, followed by notable releases such as "Τι θέλεις να κάνω" (1972) and "Πού θα πάη πού" (1973). In 1985, he released his 15th album Εγώ κι εσύ, which featured the hit song "Κόκκινο Γαρυφάλλo". This album also included "Hayalimdeki Resim", a song covered by Turkish singers Alpay and Ajda Pekkan. Parios has collaborated with leading Greek composers, including Manos Loizos and Mikis Theodorakis. His 1982 album Τα Νησιώτικα holds the record for Greek sales, with over one million four hundred thousand units sold. He performed at major venues worldwide, including Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. Parios has also worked with his son, Harry Varthakouris, on notable releases such as "Pio kali i monaxia" (1984) and "Παρέα Με Τον Χάρη..." (1995).
