Ray Wylie Hubbard is an American country music star who achieved legendary status in Texas for his smart, unsentimental songs and boisterous performances and recordings over several decades. Born in Oklahoma, he grew up in Dallas, learned to play the guitar and kicked off his career as a folk singer in the 1960s before turning to a more honky-tonk sound. He made his recording debut in 1975 with 'Ray Wylie Hubbard & the Cowboy Twinkies' followed in 1978 by 'Off the Wall' but his third release, 'Lost Train of Thought', did not arrive until 1992 and he has released albums steadily since then.
'The Grifter's Hymnal' (2012) peaked at number nine on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums Chart, 'The Ruffian's Misfortune' (2015) went to number three on Billboard's Blues Albums Chart and number 13 on the Americana Chart and his latest recording, 'Tell the Devil I'm Getting There As Fast As I Can', was released in 2017 and went to number nine on the Americana/Folk Chart and number 43 on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart. His 2018 dates included several venues in Texas plus Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Maine and Connecticut.
