Théodore, Paul et Gabriel are not three bearded men in Canadian shirts, despite the band's stated attachment to folk music. Théodore, Paul et Gabriel was founded in 2009 by three young women who like to play up their androgynous image. Produced by Pierre Guimard, their debut EP The Silent Veil was released in November 2011, revealing the trio's light, feminine folk. In October 2012, the debut album Please Her Please Him confirms the public success achieved by the three musicians on stage. In 2015, the trio returns with a renewed line-up for the album We Won't Let You Down.
