Lez Zeppelin, an all-female tribute band to Led Zeppelin, was formed in 2004 in New York City, United States. The group gained initial attention in June 2005 when Chuck Klosterman featured them in a Spin article highlighting the rise of female hard rock tribute bands. In April 2007, after touring in the US and Europe, Lez Zeppelin released their debut album Lez Zeppelin, produced by Eddie Kramer. The album included six Led Zeppelin selections (one from each of Led Zeppelin’s first six albums) and two originals, earning 3.5 out of five stars from AllMusic Guide. Following this release, the band performed at major festivals including the Download Festival in the UK, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany, and the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans. In 2010, they released Lez Zeppelin I, a re-recording of Led Zeppelin’s debut album, which received three out of five stars from AllMusic Guide. The band continued to tour extensively throughout the 2010s, experiencing several line-up changes. In late 2019, they released the EP The Island of Skyros.
