The day I knew what I wanted to do (short story)
I remember very well the summer day when I said to my mother, “I want to do this too!” Speaking of my older sister playing For Elise on the piano. We were in the garden and I was around 4 or 5 years old. Mom replied: "Do you want to play the piano? Then you have to start with the flute."
Bim. So here I am, in music theory class with my new flute. I loved learning and playing so much that I woke up long before going to school to work at Purcell! I joined the elementary school orchestra and at the age of eight, I finally started piano.
One day, my father didn’t come home at all, and this betrayal cut me off from music. But I played when I was alone because I missed it.
So, when I was 12, I wrote my first piece on the piano in A-minor Aquarius. It was a revelation, I myself could create my own compositions! It made me happy and freed me from whatever.
“Since then, music has been my life. “
Finally, there was a new turning point in my life: Paris called me, the big city, the foreign city, adventure, freedom: I had just been admitted to the “Studio des Variétés”. Passing through this school allowed me to discover both who I was and who I would not be.
“I haven’t left France since. “
I then released a first EP, Le Temps d'un Soupir, which was very much on FIP. I played in the show Les Mots de Minuit on France 2 and I released the album Shine Bright in self-production with my drummer and producer John Shamir.
Since then, I have been wandering around, looking for my style, my own sound, which has been built over the years and through meetings and collaborations with the urban music label Witness The Fame (Chicago).
I’m also working on a new album Talisman with producer and drummer John Shamir. Expected release in 2024.
My motto is: “The goal is the journey and if you don’t make any detours, you won’t discover much!”
