Zdob şi Zdub, a Moldovan folk punk band based in Chișinău, was formed in 1994. The group's original members included Roman Iagupov and Mihai Gîncu, who played crucial roles as vocalist/guitarist and bassist/composer respectively. Their early career saw the release of their debut album Hardcore Moldovenesc (Moldovan Hardcore) in 1996. The band gained international recognition by representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest multiple times: finishing 6th with "Boonika Bate Toba" in 2005, Twelfth with "So Lucky" in 2011, and 7th with "Trenulețul" in 2022. Throughout their career, Zdob şi Zdub has released notable albums such as Tabăra Noastră (Our Camp) in 1999, Agroromantica in 2001, and Basta Mafia! (Stop Mafia!) in 2012.
