More than two years after Kensington took a break following the departure of singer Eloi Youssef, the band is back. With new singer Jason Dowd, originally from Louisiana (USA) and adding his voice and charisma to the Kensington sound, the band presented first single ‘A Moment’ in January 2025.
Since its foundation in 2005, Kensington has become the biggest rock band in the Netherlands. No other band has performed as often in the biggest concert hall (Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam) in the Netherlands. The band even sold-out the adjacent Johan Cruijff ArenA, the only Dutch band ever to do so. Kensington received the Popprijs in 2017, won several 3FM Awards and MTV Awards and was honored with an Edison Pop oeuvre award in 2023.
After Eloi had left Kensington, remaining bandmembers Casper Starreveld, Jan Haker and Niles Vandenberg were certain they wanted to continue the band. Enter Jason Dowd. A mutual American friend asked the Louisiana-born singer from LA to send Casper, Niles and Jan a demo recording that really hit home. His voice and presence immediately struck the rest of the band. Niles: “Well, that American, he just came out of nowhere.” Jan adds: “He proved to be the perfect match.” Jason: “I’ve always wanted to create beautiful things and I found a group of guys that also want to make beautiful things.” Casper: “What are we waiting for? We found the guy!”
Kensington is back. Full of energy, passion, and drive plus new music that invites everybody to sing along. And this is only the beginning. Jason: “I think that we’re on the same page, it feels like this is a new season and everything that we’ve made is a perfect representation of who we are.”
