Moh! Kouyaté is without question an important name that you may very often hear mentioned today in conversation between gifted guitarists and African music fans.
The exclamation point at the end of his name bears all of its significance.
Moh! was named after his grandfather Modjigui (“Man’s hope”), guardian of the African musical tradition. Griot and son of a griot, Moh! has been continuously inspired by both traditional and pop culture. His career started when he began heating up Conakry nights in Guinea. Since then, he’s been greatly inspired by American musicians such as the talented bluesman, Robert Johnson.
Overall, he’s set his intentions on composing music with the desire to make people and continents dance. Since settling in Paris in 2007, Moh!, the groovy and generous Mandingo guitarist, has performed on stages around town on numerous occasions. In the past few years, he’s also been touring throughout Europe.
Today, Moh! is finally releasing his first album, Loundo (a day); music nourished by of all these rich experiences.
