One of the most popular hard rock vocalists of the 2000s, Myles Kennedy scored a string of hit singles with the band Alter Bridge before teaming up with Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and, ultimately, launching a successful solo career. Born Myles Bass in Boston, Massachusetts on November 27, 1969, he later moved to Spokane, Washington, where he discovered Queen and Led Zeppelin and started playing guitar with his high school band Bittersweet. He made his first records in the early 1990s, performing with the jazz-funk group Cosmic Dust, the alt-rock band Citizen Swing, and the throwback metal band The Mayfield Four. His career took a turn in 2004, when he co-founded Alter Bridge with former Creed members Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips. His work with both Alter Bridge and Slash would take him across the world and showcase him as an earnest, hard-bellowing rock singer. However, Myles Kennedy showcased the range of his influences with Year of the Tiger, his 2018 solo debut. A bluesy, stripped-back record influenced by Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley, Year of the Tiger peaked at Number 11 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart and Number 12 in the UK. Living the Dream, his third album as a member of Slash's band, was released that same year. Myles Kennedy returned with Alter Bridge in 2019 with the album Walk the Sky. He then resumed his solo career with 2021's The Ides of March, which featured a more rock-oriented, amplified sound than his solo debut. Myles Kennedy rejoined Slash and his bandmates in the studio during the COVID-19 pandemic and began recording their next album. It was reported in 2021 that both Slash and Myles Kennedy tested positive for the virus, but both made a full recovery. At the end of 2021, Slash, Myles Kennedy, and the Conspirators returned with the single “The River is Rising”. In February 2022, they released the album 4.
