Doh Kyung-soo (January 12, 1993), aka D.O., is a South Korean singer and actor, mostly known as the lead vocalist from the boy band Exo. Born and raised in the city of Goyang, he began singing in primary school and participated in several local talent shows. After a successful audition for SM Entertainment, he became a trainee in 2010 and was introduced as a member of Exo two years later. The group made its debut with the EP Mama (2012), which topped the charts in South Korea and propelled them to stardom. Exo’s newfound fame helped launch D.O.’s acting career, landing roles in numerous films and series such as Cart (2014) and Hello Monster (2015). In the following years, D.O. continued to record and perform with Exo, and starred in the series Be Positive, which became the most-watched Korean web drama in history. In 2016, he played a Judo athlete in the film My Annoying Brother, winning Best New Actor at the Blue Dragon Film Awards. He also contributed to the movie’s soundtrack with the song "Don’t Worry." Shortly after being drafted in 2019, D.O. made his official debut as a solo artist with the single "That’s Okay," reaching number 12 on the Gaon charts. 2021 marked the arrival of his studio debut Empathy, which shot straight to number 1 in South Korea upon its release. "Rose," the album’s lead single, peaked at number 33 on the Circle Digital Chart and number 16 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Even though he mainly devoted himself to acting throughout 2022, appearing in the series Bad Prosecutor, D.O. returned with his second EP, Expectation, in 2023. Preceded by the single "Wonder," Expectation was another massive win for the singer, bowing at number 3 in South Korea and number 15 in Japan. That year, he left SM Entertainment for Company SooSoo but remained active as an Exo member. Blossom, his first release following his departure from SM, arrived in 2024 and reached number 2 on the Circle Albums Chart, spawning the singles "Popcorn" and "Mars."
