The Stefano Lenzi Quintet was formed by Alessandro De Berti, producer, composer and guitar player from Milan and Stefano Lenzi, singer, composer, producer from Rome in September 2012.
The two musicians first met in 2007 co-producing legendary Italian pop star Giorgia for her album “Stonata” with Livio Magnini (Bluvertigo).
That same year they put together the “Stefano Lenzi & Alessandro De Berti Duo”, an improvisational, unplugged jazz project that revisits The Beatles’ repertoire.
Over time they began including original compositions thereby pushing even further the boundaries of experimentation.
As the music itself expanded, it created more space for other musicians so they decided to involve artists that they had known and worked with previously:
pianist/composer Antonino Zappulla, drummer Davide Pentassuglia and Stefano Battaglia on double bass.
Thanks to the invaluable contribution of Alberto Rossetto (M.i.l.k Studios), in Jannuary 2013 they recorded their first album “Somiglianze”. This recording captured the unique approach of each of the five musicians to their individual instruments. The album was recorded live and it shows the weaving together of musical styles and the continuing evolution of the players during the performance.
