Courting

Courting are a UK-based indie-rock band known for their sharp wit, infectious energy, and infectious melodies. Formed in 2018 in Liverpool, the band quickly gained attention with their blend of post-punk, guitar-driven rock, and clever, satirical lyrics. The group consists of singer Sean Murphy-O'Neill, guitarist Josh Cope, bassist Connor McCann, and drummer Sean Thomas. Their music is characterised by driving rhythms, catchy hooks, and a playful yet incisive commentary on contemporary culture and social dynamics. Drawing inspiration from bands like Bloc Party, The Strokes, and Pavement, Courting have carved out a space in the vibrant UK indie scene with their self-assured sound and bold lyrical approach. With their debut 2021 EP, Grand National, and debut album Guitar Music (2022)—which went to number 43 on the Scottish Albums chart—Courting have earned a reputation for electrifying live shows and an infectious energy that translates seamlessly from studio to stage. They have continued to garner commercial success in the UK with subsequent albums such as the hyperpop-led New Last Name (2024) and Lust for Life, Or: 'How to Thread the Needle and Come Out the Other Side to Tell the Story' in 2025.
