Fleurie is the stage name of Lauren Strahm, who was born in 1990 and grew up in Canton, Michigan, not far from Detroit. She took piano lessons as a child and sang with her family in church. She wrote her first song at the age of 11 and began performing her work in front of others at the age of 17. In 2009, she released her first album under the name Lauren Strahm, a collection of Christian songs entitled Fly. While honing her craft and letting the muse guide her, Fleurie lives for a time in Sydney, Australia, before returning to America and settling in Nashville, Tennessee. She adopts the name Fleurie - French for "blooming flower" - and finds a job as a writer for film and television while working on her musical material on the side. In 2013, she recorded her first EP, Fear & Fable , in a friend's home studio and released it as Fleurie. On her second EP, the five-song set Arrows (2015), Fleurie deepens her electronic influences and turns to a more lush production style, releasing her third EP, Love and War, in 2016. In the same year, she goes on tour as the support act for Christian hip-hop artist NF. In August 2017, Fleurie releases the single "Hurricane". her album Portals is released in 2018 and Portals: The B-Sides in 2019.
