Cello in all its forms - Le violoncelle dans tous ses états !
Manu Konlein, his real name, has been interested by music and composition very early, as a child, by experimenting many instruments.
After a course at the conservatory during is youth, learning cello and music theory and being a part of several formations (duos, quatuors, orchestras and choirs), he quickly leaves the classical cursus to learn guitar on his own, MAO and improvisation. He then founded music groups that unfortunately stopped prematurely (Numerica Rockestra, Earthquake…) then decides to start a solo project in 2015, only with his cello, a loopstation and his voice.
Numa Lokeni is hard to classify ; the breton cello player take us with him in an original universe where rock pieces, ethnic music, electronic loops, trip-hop… mix up and are succeeding, alternating energic and dancing phases, sometimes shamanics, and with dreamlike moments.
As some experimental projects, Numa Lokeni doesn’t try to disturb and aspires to create a caring music, an important role for an artist.
On stage, like a beatboxer with his loopstation, the one-man band offers an energic and surprizing show, with a place for improv, far from the beaten tracks that are more and more imposed by rentability logics.
2021 marks the release of his second album « Pieces for Rising » (on November 12) with new catchy compositions and a more important place for voices ; to discover !
