The Soundtrack Of Our Lives had their beginnings as Union Carbide Productions, a wildly adventurous and part-experimental 1980s outfit founded by singer Ebbot Lundberg and guitarist Bjorn Olsson. Ian Person joined as the band absorbed various alternative influences but, after they split in 1993, Lundberg, Olsson and Person reunited to form The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, drawing on 1960s psychedelia and giving it a hard rocking, modern edge. Their first release was the dynamic EP Homo Habilis Blues in 1996, followed by debut album Welcome To The Infant Freebase the same year; a dramatically ambitious 20-track opus evoking the epic grandeur of classic bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. Olsson then quit touring to launch a solo career but continued to work with the rest of the band in the studio and played on their slightly more focused and direct second album Extended Revelation for the Psychic Weaklings of Western Civilization, forging a a poppier edge. Their biggest success, however, came in 2001 with the rocking Behind The Music, featuring thunderously catchy tracks like Infra Riot and 21st Century Rip-Off and earning them a Grammy nomination. It helped break them into the US with a major label release, resulting in further success with the albums Origin Vol. 1 (2005) and the thematic double album Communion (2009).
