Ricardo Pita is an innovative singer-songwriter from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Pita’s unique style has caught the attention of media and fans not only in Ecuador but also in other countries in Latin America. His music goes through genres as varied as tropical, swing, alternative rock and Latin American folklore. He studied music in Buenos Aires, Argentina for a couple of years but defected because he felt it was “stealing the magic from founding out for yourself”.
With influences such as Café Tacvba , Rubén Blades , Jorge Drexler and Caetano Veloso , he has collaborated on the independent scene of Ecuador in several bands, like the legendary Ecuadorian troubadour Héctor Napolitano’s band.
Pita has shared the stage with Jorge Drexler , Kevin Johansen , Babasónicos , Monsieur Periné , Luis Alberto Spinetta , Adan Jodorowsky, El Cuarteto De Nos , Totó La Momposina among others. He has also been called the Ecuadorian Bob Dylan.
His live shows are characterized by a great musical variety and by being loaded with a lot of humor.
Pita started off by playing for his friends and started to get requests after uploading demos on YouTube.
With tours of Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, France, Spain and Brasil he has added many followers to his song that calls you to get on the good side of life.
