Cartoons, a Danish music group that originated as The Scooters in the late 1980s, initially played rockabilly and gained experience through live performances and the release of their album Live at Woodstock in 1994. The band changed their name to Cartoons in 1997 and shifted their style to a blend of rock and Eurodance they called "technobilly." Their breakthrough came in 1998 with the singles "Doo Dah" (a cover of the American folk song Camptown Races) and "Witch Doctor", the latter reaching number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut Cartoons album, Toonage, was released in 1998 and later reissued as More Toonage with additional tracks. The group released the follow-up album Toontastic, alongside several singles. They contributed the track "Wobble-Di-Bubble-Di-Doo" to the soundtrack of the 2000 animated film Help! I'm a Fish. After disbanding in 2001, Cartoons reunited in 2005 and again in 2018. In 2018, they released the single "Christmas Is Cool", followed by "Let's Go To Mars" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" in 2019. The band issued the compilation album Cartoons: De Bedste in 2019, featuring their greatest hits alongside newer recordings. In 2023, Cartoons released updated versions of two of their biggest hits: the singles "DooDah 2023" and "Witch Doctor 2023".
