Goat are a genre-blending psychedelic band hailing from Korpilombolo, a small village in northern Sweden steeped in myth and folklore. Formed in the early 2010s, the group quickly gained international attention with their explosive 2012 debut album World Music, a critically acclaimed fusion of psych rock, Afrobeat, funk, and global tribal rhythms. Shrouded in mystery, Goat are known for their anonymity—performing in elaborate masks and costumes—and their refusal to reveal band member identities, enhancing the ritualistic, trance-like atmosphere of their live shows. Following the success of World Music, Goat continued to evolve, experimenting with different textures and sonic landscapes while maintaining their mystical aesthetic. Their sophomore album, Commune (2014), further expanded their range, incorporating elements of krautrock, jazz, and prog rock into their already rich sound palette. Songs like "Goathead" and "I Sing in Silence" explored deeper, darker themes while maintaining the band's signature groove and hypnotic rhythms. The album received widespread critical acclaim for its ambitious blending of rock, funk, and ritualistic music, solidifying Goat as a band who were not afraid to push musical boundaries. Their third album, Requiem (2016), continued to showcase the band's evolving sound, exploring darker, more atmospheric tones and showcasing their ability to create emotionally resonant, cinematic soundscapes. The album’s tracks, such as "Union of Mind and Soul" and "I Have to Die" were meditative, introspective, and experimental, reflecting a more mature and complex side of Goat’s music. The group released their eponymous album in 2024 and the following year collaborated with Kenyan-born, Ugandan-based rapper MC Yallah on "Nimerudi."
