The son of legendary British folk artists Richard and Linda Thompson, Teddy was born on February 19, 1976 in London, England. He formed his first band at the age of 18 and also appeared on his father’s late ‘90s releases including Mock Tudor. Teddy Thompson decided to move to America to pursue his musical career. Leaving the safety and comfort of his homeland, the move to America inspired his art. He released his self-titled debut album in 2000 to critical acclaim. After the album’s release, he collaborate with many of his musical friends including Rufus Wainwright, Rosanne Cash, and Kate & Anna McGarrigle. He also appeared on separate solo albums by his dad and mom. In 2005, he released his second solo album Separate Ways. Continuing to build an audience, his fourth album, A Piece of What You Need (2008), was his most successful yet, reaching Number 10 on the British chart. In 2014, Teddy brought his family members – Richard, Linda, sister Kami, nephew Zak, and others - together to record the album Family, which was credited to Thompson. His next project was Little Windows (2016), a collaboration with American singer and songwriter Kelly Jones. Teddy returned to his solo career with 2020’s Heartbreaker Please.
