Jennifer Rush was born Heidi Stern in New York on September 28, 1960. The singer, who enjoyed an early musical education as a child, moved to Germany with her father at the age of nine. After moving back to the USA to be with her mother as a teenager, Jennifer Rush increasingly focused on her career as a musician. Her breakthrough came in 1984 with the single "25 Lovers", which reached number 25 in Germany. The self-titled debut album Jennifer Rush followed in the same year and brought the artist top 5 positions throughout Europe, for example in Germany and Switzerland. The single "The Power of Love" , taken from the album, also managed to establish itself in the Billboard 200 - it even climbed to pole position in the UK and Austria. in 1985, Jennifer Rush followed this up with her second album Movin'. The album not only became a number 1 success in Germany, but also achieved triple platinum status in this country. Jennifer Rush also achieved a number 1 coup with the release of her third LP Heart over Mind (1987), which also became the first studio album to enter the US charts (number 118). The Elton John duet "Flames of Paradise" became the most commercially successful single. After the singer managed to release two more gold record-winning albums with Passion (1988) and Wings of Desire (1989), successors such as Out of My Hands (1995) and Credo (1997) no longer quite matched the triumphs of the past. Despite this, Jennifer Rush created a gigantic oeuvre of hits over the course of her career, releasing ten compilation albums between 1999 and 2010, including Portrait (1999), The Hit Box (2002) and Hit Collection (2007). in 2010, Jennifer Rush made her big comeback with the release of Now Is the Hour, which was well received with various European chart positions, including 21st place in Germany. The singer, who has sold well over six million records in her career, returned in 2021 with the single "Closer" after another creative break.
