Hyperpop singer Glaive was born Ash Blue Gutierrez in Florida on January 20, 2005. He grew up in Hendersonville, North Carolina, where he played in a band before embarking on his own career. He began composing and recording solo during the Covid-19 pandemic, and took the name Glaive, inspired by the weapon in a video game, Dark Souls III. The tracks he posted on his social account and listening platforms attracted attention, to the point of appearing in hyperpop playlists, which led him to sign with the Interscope Records label. Highly productive, Glaive unveiled the Cypress Grove EP in 2020 and enjoyed viral success with the tracks "Astrid" on the following EP All Dogs Go to Heaven (2021) and "Cloak n Dagger", taken from the collaborative EP with Ericdoa, Then I'll Be Happy (2021). Singles soon followed between the albums I Care So Much That I Dont Care at All (2023) and May It Never Falter (2024). Meanwhile, the artist left the Interscope label after the EP A Bit of a Mad One (2024), to open his own independent structure called Slowsilver03. In 2025, Glaive scored a delayed hit with "The Prom", taken from his debut album, which reached No. 50 in the U.S. Rock & Alternative Songs charts.
